3 Ways to Craft Your Own Workspace Style Profile | Blisskeeping.com

Deciphering your unique style can seem totally elusive when you don’t have a point of reference. (Tweet this!)

“Eclectic” just doesn’t cut it.

Really, can any one (or two) word(s) sum up the particular way you show up in the world?

And it’s not just about looks – it’s the way you do EVERYTHING. What’s your taste in the ‘how’ of what you do in life.

This all comes into play in both the way your workspace looks + feels as well as in your work-style preferences.

In this post, we are going to hone in on the workspace environment side of things and in the next post I’ll cover workstyles. Rather than do a multiple choice quiz to figure this stuff out, I have a different take on the matter which will result in a complete style profile that you can use as you update your workspace.

Here are 3 ways you can go about this.

1. Analyze your Pinterest boards.

This might be the most obvious in this Pinterest-obsessed world we hang around, but what makes this special is that it is filled with more models of the style you aspire to than the other to ways I’ll cover. This can be really helpful if you want to develop or define your taste beyond what you currently default to.

You can either go broad or get specific depending on which type of board you refer to. For example, you could have a web design or branding board that you draw your color inspiration from. Or you could have a precise “Dream Office” board that you directly source products from. It’s up to you.

The point is you want to take note of everything you LOVE.

To really dig into this, I created a “Workspace Style Profile” worksheet that can help you through this so if you want it, go right ahead and download it now.

2. Take a good look at your closet.

This one takes a little more imagination and awareness. First – any items you don’t absolutely love should not be included in your style sampling (in fact, they shouldn’t necessarily be in your closet at all). This is where the awareness comes in.

Now comes the imagination part:

Gather all of your FAVE outfits and take a good look at them. What stands out to you the most? What do you really like about them? Is there a style them coming through?

Again, you can download the worksheet to complete the process.

3. Examine your collected treasures.

This is the most up-close-+-personal way to determine your style. We all find things when we are out shopping or traveling that are our MUST-HAVES. The one rule I have for you on this is that these can’t be gifts (unless you picked them out yourself).

I want you to see what you are most drawn to naturally without any distracting influences.

Now do this:

Pick your 3 ABSOLUTE FAVE items in your home right now. They don’t need to be from your workspace – they can be from any room you’d like.

You’ll do the same kind of analyzation you did with the last 2 so if you’re ready to dive in go right ahead and download the worksheet now!

These are great tips! I’ve figured out how my space needs to be functional and now I’m adding my style to it (the fun part!) I’m so excited about the Ikea hack desk stool I’m working on. I’m adding a Mongolian Lambs Wool cushion with gold dipped legs! I will def add a feminine touch and I can easily slide the stool under the desk since it’s in an already crowded bedroom. Functional and fun:) Thanks for the tips and inspiration!
